For November we’re chatting to Tom Sheppard. Tom is General Manager of Media Technology at Atomic 212 Group. Tom has a background in Marketing, SEO, SEM, Data and Web Analytics.

So, a mate of yours told us that you actually spent eight years on a boat with little to no technology. One, that’s pretty awesome; two, how does that shape your view of technology?
Living on a boat for eight years was great, obviously you get to travel, get to see lots of the world. Yeah, you don’t have as much access to technology as people living in houses, but, when you did use technology you knew it made your life easier. And, that’s probably given my appreciation for technology today and how it can make our jobs in Marketing a lot easier.
So, tell us a little about your Job in Marketing, what do you do at Atomic 212 Group?
It’s quite a broad role, as you said I look after SEO, Data and Web Analytics within the Group. But, it’s also inspiring the team to be innovative and do new initiatives within each discipline.
Can you tell us a little bit about ‘Mobigeddon’ and what it is?
Yeah so, Mobigeddon’s a Google update, or a tweak to the ongoing algorithm and what it does is it devalues websites that aren’t mobile friendly.
Every week we have one random question that Talina’s thrown at me. I don’t actually know what the question is. So, would you rather see everything in code, like Neo from the Matrix or speak code everytime you wanted to talk?
